Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic of tetracycline group.

Doxycycline is rapidly absorbed, its bioavailability is 95%. The effective antibiotic concentration is lasting only for 18-24 hours. The drug penetrates into the most body tissues and fluids, into the bile, exudates of maxillary and frontal sinuses, pleural, synovial, ascitic fluid. Antibiotic accumulates in bones, teeth, liver, spleen, prostate gland and excreted with gall (90%) and urine.
Side effects: gastroenteric upsets, mucous membrane irritation, allergic reactions, photosensitization, sustainable changing the color of tooth enamel, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, during long-term ingestion - dysbacteriosis, yeast-like fungi superinfection.
